How can you do a start-up in the hedge fund industry?
Unless you have significant capital on your own, it’s REALLY difficult to attract the capital needed — without a track record.
Most hedge fund managers work for decades at other hedge funds before venturing on their own. They develop real-world strategies, numerous industry contacts and most importantly — a track record — that is used to catapult to their own hedge fund.

To run a successful hedge fund, you can’t fall in love with the management fees without also considering the significant overhead that you will have to pay for, not counting salaries/bonuses, taxes, technology, office space, insurance, etc that come with any startup company and then add in compliance, administration, investor relations, trading commissions.
Good luck! Hope that helps
