How can I invest in hedge funds as a private investor with 50k?

  1. You have to first be an Accredited Investor as defined by the SEC. Most people aren’t — it’s the top 5% of net worth individuals.

  2. You have to find a hedge fund that is attractive to you. There are a lot of criteria to chose from. You need to evaluate their process of investing, not just their historical returns. Some have a $100k or $500k or $1m minimum, so you will have to find one that matches your criteria & allows only $50k.

  3. You have to request investor docs for your review. They will in turn confirm you are in fact an Accredited Investor.

  4. You sign docs and wire money.
